The season for giving thanks is here again.
A lot has happened during the past year, including a highly divisive presidential election and a busy hurricane season.
The election results made town resident and former President Donald Trump the president-elect of the United States. Thankful that the contentious election season is over, we hope that families ripped asunder because of it will find a way to forge a future together.
We also are thankful that the town escaped the brunt of another busy storm season. Our neighbors elsewhere in the state, particularly along the Gulf Coast and the Panhandle, were not as fortunate. Many are still grappling with the loss and devastation from multiple storms.
Here in Palm Beach County, a tornado spawned by Hurricane Milton cut a 22-mile swath through the western communities — from Wellington north to Jupiter Farms — destroying homes and upending lives. Thankfully, no one was killed, though seven people were injured.
We still have a week before the official end of hurricane season. We are hoping for quiet until then — and even into December, because this storm season has been packed with so much uncertainty.
And now that the weather has finally started to cool down, we’re hoping more folks will get out and enjoy all that Palm Beach has to offer. That might include a trek on the the Lake Trail or a visit to Worth Avenue, its vias or the other shopping districts anchored by South County Road and Royal Poinciana Way.
And this Thursday, as folks gather at the Thanksgiving table — wherever that may be — we hope love for family and friends will be the dominant theme.
We’re a little early, but Happy Thanksgiving to all!
